Remembering 9/11...5 years later

Please take time to pause today and reflect and pray for those that lost friends, family and loved ones five years ago today on September 11, 2001 in NY, DC or PA. God bless.

Those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Son Reaches New Heights, Achieves Dad's Dream

When I was growing up in Columbus, Indiana, we had a clothes line in the back yard. Two of my dreams included being a field goal kicker and pole vaulting over the clothes line using my Mom's clothes prop. I was able to kick a football over the clothes line, however I was never able to get much lift vaulting with the clothes prop. Son Logan recently cleared eleven feet to qualify for NC Regionals. His further quest toward new heights continues this Saturday at the Regional Meet in Monroe, NC. Now if I can convince younger son Nolan to become a place kicker in HS, I'll be set.

Jim Wilkins (right) and I have known each other since I was in the 8th grade at Central Jr. High School in Columbus, IN. (Now they call it middle school) We met in band. April 2007 our families got together to attend the USC Spring Football game and the pre-game Hootie & the Blow Fish Concert. For the record, USC is in S. Carolina and not out west. Can you imagine over 40,000 coming to see a football game where the same team plays its self. But hey, the ole ball coach, Steve Spurrier was coaching and Hootie was playing. Thanks to Jim and his wife Mary for hosting this event and providing the pre-game tailgate!! (Photo by Nolan Clark)

My favorite Mooresville area Restaurants

1. Lancaster's Bar BQ (try the fried pickle's too)
2. Brooklyn Boy's Pizza (Even with a NY theme, it's the best in town)
3.) El Cirro Reyes (Good, fast, cheap Mexican food)
4. Big Al's Pub & Gruberia (they make the list because their honey habenero wings are the best I've ever had, but they have to do something about all the smoke in this place)
5.) Red Robin, Moorseville, NC (Yes I know it's a chain, but my son worked there this summer and you can't beat their offer of bottom-less fries!!)
